Corporate Layering and Casual Pairings: Styling A Sweater Vest
Reacclimatizing Myself With an Old Favorite
Since switching out my spring and summer clothes for fall and winter, I've been reacclimating myself with my beloved sweater vest. I added this one (Read Here) to my wardrobe couple of years. I shared a few ways to style it, but most of what I highlighted revolved around styling it by itself.
A Little Too Professional
Something about layering sweater vests reminds me too much of the office. The sweater vest feels corporate, and I like to keep my workwear separate from my nighttime wear. Fast forward (almost) two years later, and workwear is in, and I'm a little more daring to try the trend.
A Mix of Corporate and Casual
I'm starting to layer and pair my sweater vest with a mix of corporate and causal components. Layering my sweater vest with my light blue button-down initially felt a little too professional, but pairing it with my Levi's Straight Ankle Jeans makes it feel fresh and modern! Throw in my newly added Black Chunky Loafers, and I'm giving the main character 90's energy, and I love it!
Styling To My Taste
This simple implementation allows me to transition my sweater vest from spring and summer to fall and winter. I'm trying the trend without compromising my style or value set by combining new and old pieces to accomplish the look. For me, it's less about following the workwear trend, and more about ensuring what I wear aligns with my style and taste.
