The Color Black Deserves Its Flowers

Giving The Color Black Its Due

I need to give the color Black its flowers. It wasn’t until this summer I realized it’s a color that’s meant to be worn long after the fall and winter seasons end.  Being from the south, I’m accustomed to seeing and wearing bold, bright colors year round. But, bold, vibrant colors don’t last as long or offer the range of versatility in my closet as well as solid Black pieces do.

My New Go-To Hue

Black is chic, transitional, and effortlessly sophisticated. It seems that every time I reach into my closet for something to wear nowadays, I pull out pieces in Black hues. For example, this Everlane Organic Cotton Box-Cut Tee has been in heavy rotation this summer. I’ve paired it with majority of the pieces in my summer capsule wardrobe (i.e. jeans, shorts, skirts, and wide leg pants). Sure the cut of it is flattering and playful, but it’s the t-shirt’s hue that makes it an adaptable, functional piece.

Two Colors That Will Always Have My Heart

Forest Green and Cajun Red will always have my heart, but they’re going to need share some of their spotlight with Black. Didn’t think I’d be one to prefer it over as much as I do now, but here I am loving it and having no interest in shifting my new train of thought. It’s everything!
