A Little News: Volume III
O C T O B E R : H O W?
Did anyone else feel September was barely a month? There’s a ton of content out right now making fun of people for being SO enthralled with fall. To those folks I say, unless you live in (unbearably) hot states during the summer time, you’ll never understand the relief fall brings.
We’ve endured so much in the name of summer. We’re tired of sticking to our car seats & sweating through our T shirts while merely walking to get our mail. Let’s just leave fall enthusiasts (like myself) alone to look forward to layers, beanies, pumpkins, and Hocus Pocus reruns in peace. We deserve the change.
A Little Life
I (sadly) chose to cancel my NUULY subscription. It’s not Nuuly, it truly is me. I didn’t wear the clothes I rented as much as I thought I would. For the month of September—I didn’t end up wearing any of my rented haul. Plus, the $90.00 service fee seems to hit my bank account at the worst possible time.
I want to focus on wearing what I have and (slowly) buying what I need only. I loved the service as a whole though. I’ll consider reactivating it when my closet and finances are a little more in order. For now, it’s not goodbye, but more like see you later.
A Little Reading
I’m in between two books at the moment. I snagged A DEADLY INSIDE SCOOP by Abby Collette from the library just as it was officially announced as the October pick for the Lotsofbooks bookclub I’m a part. I’d classify it as a cozy mystery with a splash of family drama. I’m enjoying it so far.
I’m also working my way through THE DIVINES by Ellie Eaton. The cover art piqued my interest, but the premise kept my attention. I’ve only just started it, but it seems we have some teens behaving badly and regretting these antics as adults. Word on the street suggest the plot gets real dark. I’ve yet to encounter a book that’s been “too dark” for me to finish. I may regret this sentiment later, but I can’t wait to read what all the fuss is about.
A Little Watching
I shared my love of FREAKY via an IG ramble and noticed quite a few people said they hadn’t seen it. I can’t say enough good things about it. It felt like a nod to old school 90’s high school slasher films. Trust me when I say, it’s not scary. I think there’s more gore to be concerned about than jump scares. So, be mindful of that before you give it a watch. Otherwise, have fun with it. I mean, “spooky szn” is upon us, right?
A Little Find
Since I’m looking to add higher quality pieces to my closet, I gifted myself two fabulously green Madewell pieces for my birthday. My favorite color is (different shades of) green. When in doubt—I’ll always seek green out. I’ve owned my fair share of striped pieces, but none of them have been accented with green. The WHITE AND GREEN STRIPED TEE is simple, but it caught my eye immediately. It runs a little big, so I went down one size and it fit perfectly while still providing me plenty of give.
I’m trying not buy the same staple pieces in the same hues. It just seems redundant and wasteful. Even though I already own a mock green turtleneck, I saw this pullover GREEN SWEATER and figured it wouldn’t hurt to have a causal option. I tried it in my size and it fit like a glove. It’s very comfortable and can be easily dressed up or down depending on the occasion. I can’t wait to layer it.
A Little Listen
And Her Books is a podcast hosted by my *new* Bookstagram IG friends, Megan and Gabi. They talk all things books, creativity, and small business ownership. Their most recent guest and *also* new IG Bookstagram friend, Nneen, talks about her previous job in publishing, a recent book interview collaboration with Anthropologie, and the agony and ecstasy of being an OG blogger today. And of course, they spoke about books! The whole conversation was enjoyable, relatable, and interesting.
A Little Reminder
ICYMI: I FINALLY did my FIRST Instagram Live! I joined my fellow Literary League reader, Renee, and we talked all things Velvet Was The Night by Slivia Moreno-Garcia. Though there was some technical difficulties on my end, I eventually caught my bearings and eased into the conversation. The experience was enjoyable and it inspired me to try my hand at more video based content.
