Two Must Try Items At Big Country Coffee In Abilene, Texas

I visited one of my best friends last weekend. She and her adorable family live in the same town we both attended college. Good o'l’ Abilene, Texas! Compared to the DFW area where I’m from, Abilene is small. As a youth, I visited it quite a bit, but I never stayed longer than a weekend or a week’s worth of time. So, naturally—I loved it!

Attending college there? A bit of different experience. I wouldn’t classify it as a one horse town, but it’s pretty close. I’ve only been back a handful of times since graduation and it still felt/looked the same as it did when I was in college. Now?! Abilene feels completely different. Albeit small scale, it has a growing entertainment and restaurant scene that did not exist when I lived there.

Big Country Coffee is one of Abilene’s newest coffee shop additions. I checked it out for the first time last year while celebrating a friend’s bachelorette party. I fell in love with it. No surprise a visit was on the agenda this visit, too. If you ever find yourself in one of its two locations, there are two items on their menu you must try: A London Fog and A Brown Sugar Cinnamon Scone.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but I do love me some tea. Their London Fogs are absolutely delicious! They’re served with early grey tea, lavender, vanilla, & steamed milk. If you have a sweet tooth like me, I’d suggest adding an additional pump of the lavender and vanilla syrups. The first time I had one, I knew it would be the only drink I’d entertain for all future visits. Trust me when I say, try it!

Per my friend’s raving review, I picked up a Brown Sugar Cinnamon scone. And, wow! It’s warm, lightly sweet, and crumbles minimally. I’m typically a Blueberry scone enthusiast, but this Brown Sugar Cinnamon scone is it! Don’t miss it!
