The Trending Color of 2021 Spring and Summer.

Extra, extra! You’ve heard it here first folks (or at least I’m claiming you did), the color of 2021 Spring and Summer is (drum roll please) pastels. Sorry to have mislead you into thinking I was going to declare one color as THE color to wear this Spring and Summer, but hear me out first.

Basic colors are my main go to now a days. I know, I know, pastels are not (technically) basic colors as much as they are just pastels. However, I like to think of pastels as basics’ reclusive younger sibling that’s apart of the family nucleus, but only visits during specific holidays.

We all know pastels are the color of Spring and they’re primarily on full display during the Easter holiday. Though there was once upon a time I wore all things pastel in the Spring as a child, I’ve steered clear of them as an adult because I concluded they dulled the appearance of my skin tone. Well, I’ve changed that last sentiment as of recently.

This past February, I did a major closet clean out and was in need of replacing a few items. As I combed through the internet for upcoming fashion trends in order to spark some buying inspiration, I kept seeing pastel staples being marketed as both Spring and Summer must haves by some, if not most, of my favorite brands.

I came across and ended up ordering this Sage Satin Cami with Elastic Detail to deviate from my normal and see what this pastels from Spring to Summer craze was all about. The moment I tried it on, I discovered I loved how the top was styled and I (surprisingly) loved the color of it against my skin tone.

Since this pastel purchase proved to be a success, I threw all caution to the wind and added three more pastel finds to my closet. And by more pastel finds, I mean, all three pastel finds were green because Rome wasn’t built in a day and I’m not fully convinced I can rep a pastel purple or blue as well as I can with green.

If you’re thinking about retiring your pastel staples at the conclusion of Spring, I caution you against it. I say, be ahead of the trend with me and keep them in your clothing rotation well into Summer. I have no plans to abandon my love and emphasis of a neutral clothing palette, but I definitely plan to give guest spots to a few pastel finds to accentuate a neutral here and there.

If you’re in need of replenishment or if you have a bucks to spare in the name of fashion, I’ve shared a few pastel finds that I have my own eye on below.
