Styling A Black Tee For Warmer Weather

Able’s Black Mae Drapey Tee

Able Clothing’s Black Mae Drapey Tee is a favorite of mine and perhaps the softest item that I own.  I decided to play with a few items to figure out some easy spring and summer edits circling around it.

Skinny Jeans & Twill Shorts

For bottoms, I kept it simple—two pairs of skinny jeans in different washes and a pair of Twill shorts.  Skinny jeans are timeless and flattering.  I’ve owned both pairs shown here for well over 5 years.  I may not shop the brand anymore, BUT I can attest to these specific styles holding their value in terms of quality and versatility.  These Twill shorts were a late 2021 summer addition and I’m excited to be taking them out of storage.  They’re subtly elegant and chic. I loved the Black pair so much, I picked up a white pair in the same style.

Shoes

I went with three different shoes in order to offer three different formulas.  With the mule—casual, Able’s Emmy Sneaker—playful, and the tan block heels—mild sophistication.

Accessories

Can we talk about this scarf for a second?  I bought it 5 years ago and it continues to be a sought after item that works well with neutral apparel.  I created a kerchief as well as tied it around my Able Selam Tote (gifted). Both styles make for a perfect color contrast to the Black in my tee and denim. I found a similar version thanks to Etsy. The around the shoulders cardigan is perfect for a preppy transitional look.  Transitional in that I’m going from walking outside in 100 degrees to eating inside a 70 degree establishment.
