7 ways to Style a blue and white striped boyfriend shirt For Winter
Closet Fatigue is Real
I thought figuring out looks would be easier the more I tapered my shopping and optimized my closet. Newsflash: it’s not. The more I lean on my closet for outfit inspiration, the more I find myself battling the urge to impulsively buy something new.
Closet fatigue is real right now. I wear the same pieces weekly, which is great. However, it’s proving difficult and exhausting having been a trend enthusiast up until last year. I want new and complimentary looks, but I do not want to spend the money to get them seeing as my financial freedom is at the top of my priority list nowadays.
I’ve had to get creative when it comes to getting inspired outfit wise outside of me rummaging through my own inventory. Thank goodness for Pinterest. Do you remember that place? You know that small digital hub for all things creativity, research, and inspiration. Well, it’s thriving.
Pinterest is The Place
Over the last couple of months, I’ve been scrolling Pinterest for style inspiration. It’s been reinvigorating and game changing. It’s also been difficult to resist the urge to buy dupe pieces I’ve seen floating around it, but I’ve managed to not succumb to the temptation. Hi, growth.
I’ve been able to find looks that align with my own personal style as well as discover new-to-me slow fashion, capsule wardrobe, and minimalist enthusiasts. Thanks to a recent scroll, I was reminded of a person who’s ranked at the top of my style inspiration list.
Do you have someone you look to for style inspiration and tips? For me, that’s Megan Markle. She is a style icon in my book. Her intellect, beauty and philanthropy are not lost on me. But, when she joined the royal family, I started paying closer attention to her outfits. She had the whole effortless, everyday, and casual chic look down to a science.
My Style Inspiration
She approaches style simplistically and intentionally. She wears pieces that are comfortable and compliment her. She has a well defined style and she sticks to it always. My love for her style does not influence me to the point I want to abandon my own. It’s quite the opposite. Her well defined sense of personal style challenges me to define my own and stick to it.
One of my all time favorite Megan looks is the Ralph Lauren blue and white striped long sleeve boyfriend shirt and white trousers combo she wore to Wimbledon in 2018. The whole look was casual and yet she looked Golden Globe after party on yacht ready. It was everything and everyone was talking about it.
I have a similar blue and white long sleeve button down that I picked up in honor of her Wimbledon look. It’s no Ralph Lauren, but it’s comfortable and I love it. I normally reserve wearing it in the spring and summer, but thanks to my recent Pinterest scroll–I decided to bring it out for the winter. Who said I had to wait until summer to wear it? Not me. Well, not me anymore.
7 Ways to Style a Blue and White Striped Boyfriend Shirt
Today, I’m sharing 7 simple ways I styled my Megan inspired blue and white striped button down for this winter and for winters to come. This exact button down is no longer in stock and I made the conscious decision to not shop the brand that originally made it. A little too wasteful and exploitive for me. I’ve had my eye on this investment version from AYR for a few years now. I’m determined to purchase it this spring.
Hopefully, this post serves as a reminder to take out your favorite summer and spring pieces and style them for the fall and winter, if you want. There are no rules to defining and leaning into your own personal style. If you love a piece, you should wear it as many times, ways, and seasons as possible if you can make the pieces work for you.
And if you find yourself suffering through closet fatigue, but you want to refrain from buying new—check out Pinterest. It’s increbily helpful and inspirational. Don’t sleep on it. Since many of these pieces are very old, I’ll provide dupes below, just in case you’re in the market.
Now, let’s get to the looks!
