A Little Newsletter (Vol. iI)
Welcome back! The first installment of this little blog embedded newsletter was a bit of a hit. Y’all seemed to enjoy reading my real time round ups (I.e. analytics were to the sky ). I said I wasn’t sure how often I’d be able to get these little babies out, but here we are, exactly a week later—ready to go with volume ii. Let’s see what’s on the docket.
A Little Life
This work week has been very busy. I have a friend coming into town and I’m excited to spend sometime with some of my long times and decompress. I really hope there is some pool side lounging because I haven’t had a chance to do that as of yet. When I say lounging, I mean a few hours out by the pool (preferable near/under some shade), a book in hand, and snacks by my side. It’s amazing how much a day by the pool can feel like a whole vacation. I’ve rocked the same bathing suit for the last three Summers and I do not plan to stray. I’m just not feeling the cheeky cut. Here’s my tried and true suit J.Crew and Aerie combo that has yet to be played out. I recently added this beach towel from Target to further help bring the beach to Texas.
A Little Reading
Speaking of books, I’m finishing up ‘People We Meet on Vacation’ by Emily Henry. I’ve picked it up and put it down several times. Again, busy week. I read Henry’s last year’s hit ‘Beach Read’ and I liked it. The female lead in her newest novel seems to take on/mirror some of the same characteristic as the female lead in ‘Beach Read,’ which can be much. No worries, I’d still recommend it for a Summer read. I’m about to start Tia Williams’ ‘Seven Days in June’ and I hope I’m able to finish it this weekend. It just seems fitting to finish it in June considering the title.
A Little Watching
My friend has been really pushing for me to start Starz ‘Outlander.’ As I’ve shared with her, I do not entertain many, if any, time travel based movies, books, or shows. They just leave me confused and more focused on understanding what timelines are being presented instead of characters and plot. I’m a Marvel fan. So, when ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ debuted, let’s just say, it was a journey. I’m familiar with the premise of ‘Outlander’ and I do enjoy romance. I’ll give it the ol’ college try. There are five seasons. The 6th season is in production and it’s scheduled for an early 2022 release. So, I’ve got time to get into it. I’m just hoping the plot/character development will drive the show and overshadow the time travel theme.
A Little Find
I tend to buy a new comforter every year. There’s no particular reason for the habit other than a change of scenery and home decor. I had a white comforter that just kept attaching itself to all things mess, make-up, and spills. I spotted this beauty at Target. It adds a minimal pop of color while shielding onlooking eyes from possible rogue accidents. I’ve had these green pillowcases for a while and they’re adding the perfect touch to the look of the spread in the my room. Overall, it’s comfortable and I like it. So, it’ll stay. That is, until next year.
A Litte Listen
I guess this section is dedicated to all things Bad On Paper Podcast now? Anyway—Elin Hilderbrand, acclaimed ‘Queen of the Beach Reads’ author and fellow Peloton enthusiast, was this week’s guest. She shares all things writing, upbringing, next project, and how many of her books were left on the cutting room floor. I’ve seen her name in bookstores, but I’ve never look into what type of novels she writes. After learning of her preference to drive her stories through multi-perspectives, I’m a little more curious to read one of her books. Especially now that it’s Summer. I’m glad I can now put a face (or voice) to a name. I’m excited to hear from next week’s guest considering by the time next week’s episode comes out, I will have read two of the upcoming guest’s books.
A Little Reminder
I created my first set of shopping guides for the LTK Day sale that ran June 11th through June 13th. No lie, I went a little overboard because well, deals. I received all of the items I ended up purchasing this week. The A & F shorts and shoes I highlighted were my favorite of all my purchases. The shorts are very soft and perfect for those on-the-go/lounge moments. I spotlit them in my stories and I had a couple of inquiries about them and for good reason. They’re everything.
I’d tend to lean towards wedges for Spring/Summer seasons, but these sandals seem to add a touch of chic to even the plainest of my outfits. Word to the wise, they run TTS, but the way the woven part of the sandal hit the top of my foot ended up being very uncomfortable. After a few wears though, the uncomfortableness went away. So, if you get them, be prepared to work them in a bit. Even though the sale has ended, the shopping guides are worth a viewing just in case you’re in the market to add a couple of Summer staples to your closet or if you’re wanting to replace something that’s worn out or has been donated as of late. In other news, I bought this Grace Atwood (hey again BOP Pod) Amazon the Drop Puff Sleeve Dress in green AND white. It’s the perfect Summer dress (I.e. puff sleeves, pockets, and mid cut). I plan on holding onto them for a while. And looky here, it goes great with my (will be worn again and again) sandals.
