Book Review: My Sister, the Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
In Lagos, As Korede sits down prepared to eat and watch a queued up film, she receives a call from her sister, Aylooa. Aylooa has just killed a man and she has requested her sister’s assistance with cleaning up the crime scene and disposing of the body and all of the evidence.
The crazy thing? This is not the first time Aylooa has committed murder and it doesn’t seem like it’ll be her last. The author wastes no time getting you up to speed with Aylooa’s deadly habit. I love that the chapters are quick and packed with interesting character developments.
On one end, you know what Aylooa is doing is wrong, but on the other, you find yourself sympathizing with the sisters’ proclivity to protect one another at all costs. Though brief, the story even had its comedic moments. Or maybe the moments I’m referring to were just comedic to me?
If you’re looking for a quick thriller to add to your TBR that you’ll likely finish in a sitting, I’d put this one on there with the quickness.
