Book Review: The Guest List by Lucy Foley

File_015.jpeg

On  a secluded island off the coast of Ireland, Jules and Will gather with some of their closest friends and family to celebrate their upcoming nuptials. As the wedding nears and the weather of the island intensifies, many of the guests’ shared experiences and secrets come to a head. Though it’s hard to say which revealed secret is to blame, an unknown guest meets their untimely end. How and why, you’ll have to find out.

Now, there are quite a few points of views developed in this story. Though some would classify this as a “no-no,” I think it works really well and progresses the storyline quickly. I enjoyed having the opportunity to know what a signature character is thinking and feeling through said signature character’s thoughts and words. I did not find myself getting confused about who is who and how they relate to other guests.

Let’s not shortchange the backdrop of the island adding its own element of mystery and eeriness. A perfect read for the colder months.
